Of course not. But a few recent comments suggest one
possibly significant area of agreement. That’s good, not bad.
Congressman Allen West, LTC U.S. Army, Ret., abhorred by the left, has been damned for claiming that Blacks should leave the dependency plantation run by the Democrat Party. He
took quite a stab at President Obama on Sunday, asserting that he wants to enslave the American people. West is running against Martin County Sheriff Bob Crowder in the Republican primary.
During a rally, West told constituents, “He does not want you to have the self-esteem of getting up and earning, and having that title of American. He’d rather you be his slave.” (Emphasis in original)
Along with many other economic distortions, we have become the Food Stamp Nation and Congressman West is right. Think of sweet little Julia, other fascinating composites and their legions of supporters who want “free stuff” for which they have not paid but for which their votes give the Federal Government the means and the will to force others to pay. Without the votes their allegiance to the party of “free stuff” provides, they could lose some of it.
Here’s a video of Congressman West saying some of these things. I wonder whether Vice President Biden would recognize him as more articulate than President Obama; he has facts and arguments at his fingertips and neither uses nor needs a teleprompter.
Congressman West almost certainly could not win the election were he running for President this year; perhaps some day before he gets too old he will. I hope I’m still around to vote for him if he runs and to witness the improvements to our nation that his victory will help to provide.
Here is a piece about the New Black Panthers, in which their spokesman points out that the Obama Administration wants and gets the votes of many Blacks while ignoring the problems they face.
The shocking rant against the DNC began with Shabazz declaring that “the American economy is in a halt” and even “mainstream whites are talking about” our country’s decline. The Chairman goes on to call America a ”modern Babylon and a modern Rome.”
Shabazz continued by asking his followers “Can the Democratic Party save you?” Here’s more:
“Can the Democratic Party really save us, locally and nationally, or are we just holding on because we ain’t got nothing better? Are we just being fired up for this election, to go out here and give some votes, and all of the core concerns of the black community will be thrown to the side when November gets passed?”
The chairman then began to list a series of grievances with democrats, citing the rights of ex-felons and gentrification, whites moving into black neighborhoods, as letdown issues.
Shabazz returned to the point by asking:
“Is the Democratic Party going to help with that? Is that even on their agenda, on their radar? Are your concerns being addressed, or are you being used like a whore? That’s the main point here.”
Shabazz reiterated his point by telling his listeners once again:
“We don’t want to be used like whores and prostitutes, we have to pay attention — we have to take charge of our post, accept our own and be ourselves, and stop jiving in bullsh*t.”
Mr. Shabazz’ audio is available here.
Unlike Mr. Shabazz, Congressman West is not a rabble rouser and has called no one a whore or a prostitute; his substantive positions on most issues are obviously not the same as those of Mr. Shabazz either. However, both noted the sad state of the economy and both contend that the Obama Administration has been trying to get as many votes as it can while ignoring as many problems — some it created, some it made worse and some it had promised to fix but didn’t — as it thinks it can get away with. In that, both are correct. The Obama Administration does treat its supporters as “whores and prostitutes:” like a pimp, it gives them what it needs them to have to encourage them to do what it wants them to do. Perhaps that is the only way for President Obama to win reelection.
I hope that some who don’t listen to Congressman West will pay a bit of attention to Mr. Shabazz. Although few if any of Mr. Shabazz’ admirers will vote for Governor Romney, perhaps some may agree with him that President Obama has not done much to warrant their votes.
