Where is the "entitlement society," also known as the Dependency Plantation, taking us – not just some, but all of us? This article addresses where we are heading and the destination is not a good one for those who enjoy and wish to retain freedoms. Some are temporary beneficiaries and probably enjoy that. However, I wonder how many desire the ultimate destruction of our society – and hence of the sources of their benefits -- that can result should their goals be achieved.

I was graduated from Yale University in 1963 with a B.A. in economics and from the University of Virginia School of law, where I was the notes editor of the Virginia Law Review, in 1966. Following a four years of active duty with the Army JAG Corps, with two tours in Korea, I entered private practice in Washington, D.C. specializing in communications law.
