Orwell’s 1984 Sales Up 9538% in the Last 24 Hours: Hey Obama, 1984 was meant as a warning, not a how-to manual

Be calm. Don’t fret. This must be a fluke and just another plot by the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.

By the way, how are sales of Nightmares Dreams of my Father doing?

Typical of the “baby boomer” generation who still live by the creed that “if it feels good, do it” to find meaning in a book 64 years after it was written and published (1949). Hopefully, it won’t take them another 64 years to discover its meaning and finally begin to grow up.

On my Facebook page, commenting about the fascistic Brits, I told my readers (all two or three of them) that Eric Blair warned of all this in his tale “1984” – that “English Socialism” weould be more fascistic than anything ever seen. I told them to pick up copies of “1984” and look for “Ingsoc”. It’s all there…

Perhaps this is a harbinger of the only upside to the growing number of scandals – that people are finally realizing just how serious this mess is and they want to address it. Hopefully they’ll go beyond reading “1984”, and act.
