About that Boston thing: America, I have some questions.

This poem by W. H. Auden, written many years ago, may well suggest where we are now. I hope we aren’t there, but if we are not we are getting very close.

  1. Tex says:

We all have those questions, and more. It was announced today that the brothers had ONE 9mm pistol between them. ONE nineteen year old, probably unarmed, caused martial law to be placed in effect in the cradle of democracy. It was also announced today that the US mint has stopped selling gold to individuals. They are running out. The dollar is no longer valued by it’s value in gold. GOLD is now valued by how many dollars we have printed. So gold is still worth $35 an ounce. Gold isn’t becoming more valuable. The dollar is becoming worthless. If your ounce of gold becomes worth $10,000, how are you going to spend it? If you bring it to me, I’ll give you a couple dozen eggs for it – if I have them extra. Otherwise, you can try to eat it – or buy a $10,000 loaf of bread.
